United States’s iron ore imports-2024
US, April 12 (Reuters) – According to data from January 2024, United States’ iron ore exports amounted to $57.6 million, while imports totaled $70.9 million, resulting in a trade deficit of $13.4 million.
Comparing January 2023 to January 2024, US iron ore exports saw a decrease of $11 million (-16%), declining from $68.5 million to $57.6 million. Meanwhile, imports experienced a $4.7 million (7.1%) increase, rising from $66.2 million to $70.9 million.
As previously highlighted by GMK Center, the US witnessed an 8.7% reduction in steel imports in 2023 compared to 2022, totaling 28.15 million tons. Additionally, imports of rolled steel products dropped by 14.1% in 2023 compared to 2022, reaching 21.69 million tons.
